Barry Michael Gellert

Barry Gellert started performing live at age 18. He made a quick name for himself in the Tri-State area and would go on to be signed by both EMI and Universal Music Enterprises -- the latter of which at he was mentored by renowned producer and composer Rick Chertoff (Cyndi Lauper, The Band, Joan Osborne). Barry performed regularly on Sprout TV for kids, and contributed significantly to the soundtrack for the movie Dear Dumb Diary, including composing the title track. While heading Dream Jam Productions, Barry was hired by the State of New York to create a multi-disciplinary music program for Kindergartners and First Graders. This would go on to become the renowned “All Access” program. Barry has been performing, teaching, mentoring, and producing for 35 years and is the founder of Monroe Music Inc, where he continues to teach many students to this day.

Cormac began his pursuit of music in his early teens while playing as a Jazz drummer in several high-level youth ensembles. Into his adulthood, he would go onto to study a number of other instruments across a wide range of disciplines. He founded and lead the music program at his Alma Mater, Claremont McKenna College, while also taking courses in music theory and composition from a neighboring institution. Cormac has since pursued a part-time career in music production, and has served as a recording engineer on dozens of successful projects over the last few years. He also serves as our in-house tech for instrument set-up and repair.

Brian D'Angelo

Brian D’Angelo has been teaching and coaching music for over 2 decades. His musical career started on the Piano when he was just 7 years old and studied with Frank Corrado of Cortlandt Music Academy. He later progressed to Bass and Guitar and was mentored by Barry Gellert owner of Monroe Music for over 20 years. Brian has also been an integral part of several musical projects with Barry in performances and in the recording studio. He also has a Masters degree in education from Manhattanville college and has been teaching Piano, Bass, Guitar and Drums at Monroe Music since 2017.
